Description

This qualification is part of the Health Training Package. It covers the application of nursing skills and knowledge required to be eligible for enrolment with some state/territory nursing and midwifery regulatory authorities, or registration as a Division 2 Nurse in Victoria. This qualification is suited to apprenticeship pathways.

Subjects

Core: Work in the nursing profession; Communicate effectively in a nursing role; Comply with infection control policies and procedures in health work; Contribute to OHS processes; Work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people; Work effectively with culturally diverse clients and co-workers; Confirm physical health status; Undertake basic client assessment; Implement basic nursing care; Undertake basic wound care; Deliver nursing care to consumers with mental health conditions; Apply legal and ethical parameters to nursing practice; Deliver basic nursing care to older clients; Deliver nursing care to acute care clients; Apply first aid. Electives: Administer a range of medications; Administer and monitor medications in the work environment; Analyse health information; Apply effective communication skills in nursing practice.
