Life at TAFE

Life at TAFE offers you a great learning experience and plenty of opportunities to socialise and make new friends on and off campus.

In the classroom, students enjoy close working relationships with teachers and small class sizes of around 15- 20 classmates.

This gives you the chance to ask questions and discuss what you’re learning with your classmates and teachers. And of course TAFE’s hands-on learning approach means that you get to see and participate in putting the theory you’re learning into practice. So while the work is challenging you get plenty of support.

The benefits of a TAFE education don’t end in the classroom with a range of social clubs, societies, sports teams and events to fill everyone’s calendar.

Student associations provide a great range of events. You can take a variety of exciting trips including surf, ski and bush getaways. TAFE student associations even run giveaways with tickets to the movies and Melbourne’s nightlife.

Because the students at TAFE come from such diverse backgrounds you get to enjoy the various cultural days that provide you with tastes and sounds from around the world.

You can attend or compete in the Battle of the Bands and Future DJ competitions which pit the musical talents of TAFE students against other tertiary students from around Victoria and Australia.

The social side of TAFE ensures every student has the opportunity to get the most out of their education. Plus there is a lot of fun to be had on campus with BBQ get togethers, concerts and awards nights that recognise your achievements.

“TAFE has small class sizes and because you’re with the teacher and the other students everyday, you really get to know each other.” Leah Mececkas, Gippsland TAFE
